Two people died on the spot while another succumbed to injuries at Makindu Sub-County hospital.
Three people were killed and scores injured in a Saturday dawn accident involving a Nairobi-bound bus and a lorry near Kibwezi Town.
Kibwezi Sub-County Administration Police Commander Albert Hama, who confirmed the accident, said that the Channia bus rammed a lorry as it attempted to overtake another vehicle.
"We confirm that two people have died on the spot and about thirty one others have sustained injuries-some of them critical-and are undergoing medication in Makindu and Kibwezi hospitals," Mr Hama told the Nation on phone.
Administrators at Makindu Sub-County hospital, however, said that one casualty succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.
Said Mr Hama: "The drivers of the two vehicles were among the patients who did not sustain serious injuries and who were treated and discharged."
